Driving Road Safety Forward

Sortera Supports the Exchanging Places Initiative

Story

Sortera partners with the Metropolitan Police on the Exchanging Places initiative, promoting road safety by raising awareness of HGV blind spots and fostering safer cyclist interactions.

At Sortera, safety is at the heart of everything we do, and nowhere is this more evident than in our ongoing support for the Exchanging Places initiative. Run in collaboration with the Metropolitan Police, this program is making a tangible difference in promoting safer interactions between cyclists and Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) on London’s roads.

The Exchanging Places initiative is built around a simple yet impactful concept: raising awareness of the blind spots that exist for HGV drivers. Cyclists are invited to sit in the driver’s seat of a heavy vehicle, providing them with a firsthand perspective of what drivers can and crucially, cannot see. This experience is eye opening, helping cyclists understand the challenges faced by HGV drivers and equipping them with the knowledge to navigate roads more safely.

At Sortera, we’re proud to play an active role in supporting Exchanging Places. Through this initiative, we align our operations with a strong commitment to the safety of the communities where we work and live. Our involvement positions us at the forefront of road safety advocacy in London, helping to build trust and meaningful connections with our customers, stakeholders, and local residents.

As we look ahead, Sortera’s engagement with Exchanging Places will remain a cornerstone of our road safety efforts. With plans to participate in an ever-growing number of events across London, we are committed to expanding the program’s reach and impact.
